Leaves

Posted on October 27, 2019June 12, 2022 by Wade Haggard

A yearly dance amidst frosty sheathes

A changing season and fading greens

I follow forward my heart and want

A trail of change and timeless taunt

Watching solemn as they fade and fall

Upon the ground like memories all

Scattered bout lowly, the lost and dying

Beautiful internment, breathless sighing

Crisping sounds as they whisper together

Following a dance as if each were tethered

Cacophony shifts and twirling hustle

Within passing winds in fading tussle

Saying goodbye, each another season

I look forward to a springtime breeze in

When leaves freshly sprout and grow green in masses

And dreams birth brightly, as winter passes
